Definition: A cosmetic surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the abdominal wall muscles.
Procedure Steps:
1. Anesthesia: General anesthesia.
2. Incision: A long, low incision is made from hip to hip, just above the pubic area. A second incision is made around the navel.
3. Tightening: The skin is lifted, and the underlying abdominal muscles are tightened with sutures.
4. Removal & Repositioning: Excess skin and fat are removed. The remaining skin is stretched down, and the navel is repositioned to a natural spot.
5. Closing: The incisions are closed with sutures. Drains are often placed.
