Definition: Surgery to detach the ureter from the bladder and reimplant it in a new, secure position to correct reflux (VUR) or obstruction.
Procedure Steps:
1. Anesthesia: General anesthesia.
2. Access: Usually through a lower abdominal incision or laparoscopically.
3. Reimplantation: The ureter is detached. A new tunnel is created within the bladder wall, and the ureter is reattached. This tunnel acts as a valve to prevent urine from flowing backward.
